Crochet Animals

Recently I have been interested in crocheting, and I'm currently learning the basics of crochet.  For those of you who do not know what crochet is, it is a craft that many people like to do on their free time.  In order to crochet you need the basic materials- a crochet hook and some yarn.  The sizes or the hook and yarn depend on what design you are making.

Anyway, while I was looking in a crochet book, I discovered a cute crochet animal.  It was so adorable that I decided to look for more crochet animals and other characters.  In Japanese small crochet animals and creatures are called amigurumi (ah-mee-guh-roo-mee).  Here are some that I found:

I hope you enjoyed this short little post about crochet animals.  I for one can't wait to try and make one myself.

When I was searching for crochet animal pictures, I discovered a really funny and cool blog about crocheting.  The blog is: http://woowork.blogspot.com by Howie Woo.  The picture of the chicken and the egg was from this blog.

Oh for Clarification, this is posted by Miyu as u can guess from the comment below and why I said this is because I commented on this post earlier in the day but my post mysteriously disappeared when I checked it later on. Hi Julia! I see you've posted another post yet again! I'm glad to see your posting more frequently now. The crochet dolls u posted are all really cute! I loved the cupcakes and the coffee cup crochet doll because it's really cute and heart-warming. When I was way back in 3rd grade, I made a crochet doll too. It's falling apart now, but I still keep it because it's something I made. I want to make another one soon, so this time, I hope I an make a cute and better crochet doll like the ones on ur blog!

    1. Hi Miyu,

Yes, I'm trying my best to post everyday or every-other day, so thank you for checking my blog frequently.

I think that the cupcakes and coffee cup are really cute too. :) There are so many cute crochet animals and characters, it's amazing what people can make!

That doll you made for yourself sounds adorable. Maybe you can show it to me or take a picture of it if you have time?

    1. Jadie, you are so funny! :)

I totally agree, but I think I like the chicken the absolute best. As for the sock monkey, I wonder how people can crochet such small things? Anyways, thanks for the comment!

  4. Hi Julia,

These are really cute! It's amazing that such a small craft like the sock monkey can be created by crocheting.
Are you planning to make crochet animals in the near future? If so, which animals are you planning on making?

    1. Thanks Jasmine!

I know right? Great detail and concentration must go into making such small dolls. Well, in order to make my own doll I need to practice crocheting a bit more. I plan to work on crocheting more this summer.

Hi Julia! So sorry we missed seeing you when we were on vacation! One week is certainly not enough time to see all the family we want to see, plus visit different sites. Since Ian's children ( your cousins) had never met Grandpa... those were the top priorities... next year, we will be sure to see you.. as for the crocheted animals, they are just adorable! Are you going to try and make one? I could never crochet... maybe I wasn't patient enough! :)

    1. Hi Aunty Sylvia,

It's nice to hear from you again! I was disappointed that I couldn't see you, but there will be other opportunities in the future. Also, that you so much for the gift! I was so happy to receive it. :)

I already tried crocheting, but I'm only a beginner so it will take some time until I can actually attempt to make a crochet animal.
